 by: Patricia Kopp

Does the cost of travel have you wondering whether or not you can afford to take your family on a vacation this year? Your much needed and well deserved vacation should be a priority in your life and we are providing ways to make your family vacation time more affordable and more enjoyable.

1. Kids and Cruises -Traveling by ship is a way for families to visit several places on one trip without constantly having to pack and unpack which is a big benefit for parents with young children. Additionally most cruise lines offer children’s programs and kids will love the freedom of life on board a cruise ship.

Way to save on cruising: Travel agents specializing in cruises and businesses that book blocks of cabins can offer quite a savings on rooms. Cruising prices are also dependent upon the season you choose to cruise. Look for off season specials or cruises that include airfare as part of the deal. Many of the cruise lines offer a kid sail free program.

Modern Wonders
 by: J Square Humboldt

Apparently, it’s time to turn the page on the original Seven Wonders of the World …

Since only one of them is left standing, and since most people can’t remember what the rest of them are, anyway, this is a good idea for someone who has too much time on their hands and the ability to raise money.

In this instance, that would narrow the candidates down to one Bernard Weber. He’s a Swiss idealist who is behind the New 7 Wonders Foundation, which he founded in 2000.

Weber’s motivation is simply to call attention to the marvels made possible when mankind applies positive energy. In fact, should his foundation actually generate profits, he intends to use at least a portion of them to rebuild lost marvels. Specifically, he cites the Bamiyan Buddha statue, a cultural masterpiece which dated to the Fifth Century AD and was senselessly destroyed as a blasphemous icon by the Taliban when their stilted act tyrannized Afghanistan.

The original Seven Wonders were so anointed by an ancient geek, Philon of Byzantium, and an ancient Greek, Antipater of Sidon. Those were the days before travel agents and tour guides, so perhaps each felt a need to fill the void. Whatever their inspiration, they were not the first to get the idea.

The province has many neat things to do, thewildlife is my favorite. There are so many freshwater lakes to go fishing and boating in the summer time. Hunting is also a big draw to Manitoba because there so much undisturbed land that wildlife thrives. The province has a coast line which is part of Hudson Bay. So you can really never run out of things to see and do in this province.

10 Things To Do While In Ireland
 by: Niall Cinneide

Ireland has become a secret hide-a-way for vacationers in the past 20 years, and there is plenty to do while in Ireland. In the early 1990’s, Ireland took an economic turn upwards, and the country began to establish itself with economic success. Since then immigration has increased from the European countries, Russia, and even Australia and the U.S. The well-hidden secret of the wealth that Ireland has to offer has begun to slip out.

Today, vacationers and those who just want a quick get-a way for a weekend or so, are coming to Ireland to experience the old town charm mixed with what the thriving metropolis has to offer. There is something to do for everyone between the ages of 1 and 101, and there’s always more to come back to.

Dublin, with almost 500,000 people, is the capital of Ireland.

Belfast, again close to 500,00 is the capital of Northern Ireland. Both of these huge cities began as shipping ports, through the Irish Sea, way back around 488AD, so they are filled with the charm and character of an old town, while being able to offer you all the comforts of a bustling city.

Wholesale Travel Gets You There Cheaper

Wholesale Travel Gets You There Cheaper
 by: Chris Robertson

Traveling is one of life’s greatest adventures. It can bring joy to the heart and peace to the soul. Unfortunately, traveling can be an expensive proposition, and one that makes adventurous vacations out of reach for many people. When you take advantage of wholesale travel packages, though, you can go on cruises, relax at resorts, luxuriate in the best accommodations at hotels, and fly with airfares that will make your friends jealous.

Wholesale travel can encompass a variety of vacation experiences. You can stay at resort properties, condo properties, timeshare properties, privately owned properties, vacation homes, or coastal beach homes. The keys to finding great wholesale travel opportunities are understanding how the tourism industry operates and having flexibility in your travel plans.

For example, when you call a resort and ask for room rates, you’ll most likely be quoted what are called “rack rates.” These are the non-discounted rates that resort properties can charge when they’re almost booked to capacity. In reality, though, resort properties aren’t usually full, and rooms are perishable commodities. If a room goes empty for a night, that represents lost income that the resort can never regain. Wholesale travel packages take advantage of this phenomena and book blocks of rooms at non-peak periods to get the best rates. The resorts readily agree because they need to fill the rooms and they know that guests will spend money on ancillary products, such as restaurant charges, room service, and gift shop purchases.

Finding Cheap Hotels

Finding Cheap Hotels
 by: Hugh Goble

Cheap hotels for your travels can be easy to find if you know where to look. In every town there are cheap hotels that can make the difference between having a vacation or not. Where should you look for these hotels? Accommodation costs are a significant chunk of the total vacation expenditure and by staying in cheap hotels vacationers can afford to experience more of what a holiday destination has to offer.

Start by talking to friends or business associates who have recently travelled to the area. They may have good suggestions for you, especially if you believe that their budget was similar to what you’re prepared to spend. They may not have stayed at cheap hotels but they can probably give excellent advice about where you may try. In larger cities they’ll almost certainly be able to guide you as to suitable areas in which to find cheap hotels.

It’s important to understand that the costs of hotel accommodation can vary by the time of year that you plan to travel, and even by the days of the week that you’ll be staying. A winter trip to a popular summer destination will be much cheaper than if you made the same trip during the summer months and vice versa.

Rental Booking Tips For Vacationers

Rental Booking Tips For Vacationers
 by: Kent Krueger

You’ve found the perfect vacation rental and now you’re ready to book it. Overall, the process should be easy. Hopefully, the owner has attached a calendar showing the property’s availability. Most will do this as it makes no sense to pursue a vacation rental property if it’s not available at the time you want to travel.

If you’ve never physically seen the property, you might be nervous about booking it. Whether it’s several hundred dollars a week or several thousand, you want proof that you’re getting your money’s worth. Unfortunately, you won’t get your “proof” until you actually put the key in the door and open it. But before you change your mind and book a room at a major hotel chain, just slow down and do your research. When reserving a vacation rental, you should go through the same steps as you would before making any type of major purchase. And the beauty of the Internet is that you have all the information you need, right at your fingertips.
